Stage 7, Booth 101
Philipp Scholz Rittermann – Bio Temporal and spatial themes lie at the heart of Rittermann’s photographic explorations. From nocturnal scenes of industry to pristine landscape, his subjects span opposite ends of our environment. Born and raised in Perú, Rittermann lived in Germany and Spain before emigrating to the United States in the early 80’s. His work is held in over one hundred public, private and corporate collections, from MoMA, New York to the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, France. He exhibits nationally, and internationally, and was honored with a mid-career survey at the Museum of Photographic Arts San Diego, which published the monograph “Navigating by Light”. Rittermann has been teaching photography for over thirty years in the USA and abroad. In 2011, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego exhibited large scale photographs from “Emperor’s River”, a multi-year project he conducted in China.
