Stage 8, Booth 606
Beginning a career in advertising and editorial photography John Colao’s expanded his work to fine art photography, documentary film and painting. Colao’s artwork is subject-driven images, whether portraits which are spontaneous or landscapes that reflect the ephemeral synchronicity between light, shape, color specific to a particular space. His recent work exhibited for the first time is a portfolio of nudes – a portrait. The female body is often captured as an anonymous object…a distant view of beauty, unattached. With an objectifying mind we lose connection with the subject and her interior landscape. These images offer a portrait of a woman in movement, feeling her internal shapes and curves, creating gestures beyond the measuring mind of a perfect pose. The work lay dormant for a time. Within this awakening, the Eternal Dance – birth, death, rebirth. Naked. Unadorned. John Colao lives and works in Los Angeles. Represented by ROBERT BERMAN GALLERY Bergamot:Station.
