Stage 7, Wall 08
Adam Moskowitz’ work is dedicated to the use of photography in a more abstract realm. Over the last seven years, Adam has been developing various new photographic techniques, abstracting light to forge a distinct and powerful visual analogue to music. Inspired toward this relatively uncharted artistic territory by his previous training in both classical violin and sound engineering, Adam works to isolate the specific building blocks of music (i.e. harmonic construction, rhythm, counterpoint), and to use them as the vocabulary of his visual compositions. Moskowitz’ technical experiments have yielded large-scale pigment prints, noted for their unerring detail and striking resemblance to paint. His newest body of work, entitled Counter-form, uses in-camera multiple exposures to create visual counterpoint. Adam is also the curator and co-owner of Moskowitz Gallery in Los Angeles, where his Counter-form solo show will be exhibited opening June 12th.
